Support on a project developer contract for a new DC in Germany
Since 2008, Corporate Express is part of Staples – the world’s largest supplier of office products. The company dedicates itself to taking service in the office supplies market to the next level. From their 350 locations in 21 countries, they provide their customers with a single source for all their business supplies, making it possible for them to focus more time, energy and resources on their core business.
Corporate Express ran their German logistics operation out of three warehouse locations in Germany: Berlin, Stuttgart and Langelonsheim. After careful consideration Corporate Express has chosen a new network model with one warehouse location in Waldlaubersheim in Germany (approx. 35.000 order lines per day). The consolidated operation is running in a new facility of approximately 44.000 m2 warehouse space, included the space based on growt.
Based on the experience with their Dutch warehouse Corporate Express asked Groenewout to assist them in contracting and monitoring the realization and acceptance of the German warehouse under a contract with a project developer. Special attention has given to all matters of the facility and infrastructure that have a direct relation with the logistics. During the course of the project Groenewout’s role became more and more that of a participating member of the German Staples project team.
