Frozen logistics for French retailer
The Kloosterboer Group is an independent family business. With over 3 million cubic metres cold storage capacity, Kloosterboer is one of the leading logistic providers for temperature-controlled goods in Western Europe.
Kloosterboer offers a broad package of logistical services in frozen, cooled and temperature-controlled and food-related products: from product shipping to cooled or frozen storage in cold storage warehouses, from blending juices and smoothies to dealing with Customs formalities.
Kloosterboer participated in a tender for a French retailer. The retailer is looking for a partner to outsource their frozen goods distribution in the Paris region Île de France. Kloosterboer invited Groenewout to support and bring in specific knowledge required to be succesfull in winning the business. Constraint: the proposal had to be finished in 2 weeks time.
With the use of Groenewout’s cost model several alternative solutions were compared on investment and operational costs. In close cooperation with Kloosterboer key figures for productivity, flow capacity and processes were determined and implemented in the model. In parallel, a 3D design was developed to get a better feel for the solution.
Thanks to the cost model, Kloosterboer had insight in all elements that determined the final price and presented their offer with confidence. Also, the model enabled Kloosterboer to share details with the retailer to found their proposal.
