Eimskip is a leading transportation and investment company in Iceland and one of the country’s largest privately owned companies. It has evolved over the years from being a shipping line to a total transportation and logistics company. As an investment company it holds shares in many other Icelandic companies.
To improve and extend the performance and reduce costs of Eimskip’s public warehousing operations, a new centralized distribution center (Vöruhotel) was designed. Eimskip required a firm to control and deliver this state-of-the-art project on time and within budget at the desired quality.
Eimskip selected Groenewout to act as Overall Project Manager. Based on the integrated design and specifications for the Vöruhotel, suppliers were selected and contracted for construction of Building, Logistics Systems and a Warehouse Management System. Groenewout managed and coordinated all contractors and subcontractors. Groenewout also was responsible for site management during the construction of the Vöruhotel.
Project was completed within time schedule and budget. Groenewout was a one stop shop: Eimskip had one source for knowledge and expertise for integrated logistics design and WMS implementation. The overall project management allowed for seamless coordination among all contractors and rapid solutions to any disputes.
