Description
PostNL is a mail, parcel and e-commerce corporation with operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. Formerly a subsidiary of TNT N.V., it became an independent company upon TNT’s demerger in May 2011.

Opportunities
Mainly due the internet paper mail traffic decreases. That is one of reasons PostNL planned to change their complete structure of mail delivery. Part of this transition to a new structure is a change in the activity “sorting”. Instead of sorting by the individual postmen, mail will be sorted in only six big central locations in the Netherlands. In the beginning these locations start up in temporary rented buildings, after purchase of the new sorting systems these CVL (Centrale Voorbereidingslocaties) will be converted in permanent facilities.

Solution
Based upon detailed drawings of work units, dimensions for internal transport, routings and storage areas Groenewout developed lay-out drawings for CVLs.
