New dc for Tarkett

March 25, 2020 4341 Views

Due to sustained growth, Tarkett – an international market leader in innovative floor solutions – is moving to a new distribution center (DC) in the Dutch city of Waalwijk. The 14,000m2 DC is located at Prologis Park Waalwijk (DC3 Unit A). The entire building (which comprises 26,000m2 in total) has received a Breeam ‘very good’ rating for sustainability and is also Well Building-certified.

When Tarkett’s new DC becomes operational in Q2/2020 it will handle the mechanized storage of the carpet tiles that the company produces in Waalwijk and supply them to all of Tarkett’s locations in Europe.

Groenewout’s involvement includes a feasibility study for the logistics design of Tarkett’s new DC. Groenewout is also coordinating the realization of the logistics design and supporting the WMS project. In terms of the building itself, Groenewout drew up the Program of Requirements, coordinated the rental tender and monitored the planning and quality all the way through to the handover. When preparing the rental agreement, Prologis received support and advice from Cushman & Wakefield, De Lobel & Partners and DLA Piper. The racking and automation for the new facility is being supplied by Still.
