Bol.com wins international BREEAM Award
Bol.com has been named one of the winners of this year’s international BREEAM Awards in London, UK, on March 7.
This annual awards program recognizes the most innovative and sustainable construction projects in various categories. The new Bol.com fulfillment center in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, that is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017, emerged as the winner of the ‘Industrial Buildings’ category.
An expert panel of judges assessed all the submissions based on sustainability, innovation and scalability. The judges praised Bol.com for the scalability of the new fulfillment center, the way in which CO2 emissions are minimized by heat regulation and five wind turbines, and the company’s focus on creating a healthy and pleasant workplace for its employees.
The new fulfillment center has been designed by the logistics consultancy firm Groenewout and the architectural firm FKG architecten aan de zaan, and is being built by Van Wijnen Rosmalen. For more information about the design, please contact Mari van Kuijk.
