Inspiration session Logistics & E-commerce | Belgium (Dutch-language event)

7 June 2023 1782 Views

Groenewout takes its ‘Logistics & E-commerce’ inspiration session to Belgium for the first time on June 7, 2023.

An afternoon of knowledge and networking on focused on the latest logistics-related technological developments. New technologies are having a wide-ranging impact in logistics, both in order picking and packing, enabling you to boost your productivity, increase your flexibility and – where possible – speed up your processes.

Are you keen to gain insight into the latest order-picking and packing technologies?

Groenewout’s Dirk Becks will be looking at automated order-picking concepts. Which automation-based logistics concepts are currently available? The primary focus will be on new arrivals on the market and concepts that are still in development. To directly link the theory to the practice, the session will include two customer cases: Gert Hellemans from Active Ants Belgium will explain how human employees and automation work in perfect harmony in the innovative combination of AutoStore, AMR technology and the pick-in-the-box principle, and Dorine Zeeman from bol.com will provide an overview of the company’s automated packing processes and the underlying choices.

The session starts at 14:30h on Wednesday 7 June and ends at 18:00h with networking drinks including street & bar food. We are looking forward to seeing you on 7 June at the fantastic Kasteel Sint-Michiels venue in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium.

14.30 Registration opens

15.00 Opening by Mo Lasgaa, Managing Consultant, Groenewout

15.10 New and standard mechanized logistics solutions: a general comparison

There is a lot happening in the market for mechanized logistics solutions. During his presentation, Dirk will be looking at currently available automation-based logistics concepts, with a particular focus on new arrivals on the market and concepts that are still in development. He will provide an overview of the pros and cons of the different techniques – from various cube storage systems such as AutoStore to ones based on Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMRs) and shuttle systems – as the basis for making the right choice. He will also share Groenewout’s experience from numerous consultancy and implementation projects for customers in various sectors.

16.00 Robotization and automation: the future of e-fulfillment

Active Ants’ e-fulfillment takes care of logistics for online shops: from the moment of purchase through to the correct delivery of orders worldwide and even the return flows. Active Ants is founded on a vision that a focus on innovation, far-reaching automation and robotization can significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of e-fulfillment. In fact, this seems to be the only sustainable way – both for people and society as a whole – for the logistics sector to keep pace with the steep rise in e-commerce at an acceptable cost level. On 7 June, Gert Hellemans will explain how Active Ants is successfully deploying the innovative combination of AutoStore and AMR technology, the pick-in-the-box principle and human employees.

17.15 Automated packing @bol.com

At bol.com, the packaging for all loose items has been automated since 2017. Even more new machines were added when the new warehouse went live recently. These machines facilitate even smarter packing, which means smaller parcels, less packaging material and minimal air in each shipment. Find out on 7 June why bol.com chose this solution and how it has been integrated into the total operation.
